- Who We Are
-
Hilltop Home is a private, nonprofit, specialized community residential center serving a maximum of 22 young children who have severe to profound developmental disabilities and are medically fragile. Hilltop Home provides a comprehensive residential program that includes individualized medical, therapeutic, and developmental/educational services. The program is designed to assist young children with multiple disabilities and medical fragility to reach their fullest potential. The care includes medical, therapeutic, and educational services provided in an intimate, homelike setting.
- Who We Serve
-
Hilltop Home admits non-ambulatory children, ages birth through six years, who have severe/profound developmental delays. Our residents typically have pronounced medical complications that require specialized, around-the-clock care by nursing staff. Hilltop Home residents must be North Carolina residents, with Wake County children being extended first priority in the admission process.
- Staff
-
Operating a residential program requires around-the-clock staffing by a variety of skilled, flexible people who, at Hilltop, are capable of “wearing many hats.” Hilltop’s current staff includes an executive director, executive assistant, nursing coordinator, staff nurses, special education teachers, social worker, administrative secretary, direct care aides, cook, and housekeeper. Also on staff is a reliable force of part-time employees. In addition to Hilltop staff, we also contract with other community agencies to provide on-site physical, occupational, and speech therapies; aquatic therapy; nutrition services; and psychological services.
Our staff members have diverse backgrounds, but we are proud of a common thread for many staff—previous experience with persons with disabilities. This experience builds a firm foundation of expertise for our program. Hilltop also takes pride in our low staff turn-over rate. Our families value this stability, often relaying how comforting it is to know that long-term personnel are caring for their children.
